ARTIST: Ito Shinsui (1898-1972)

This image is out of print and VERY RARE. There are only a few left. This is no ordinary art print! It is printed with silver foils as the snow failing. Very Nice! The original painting was done in 1932.

ABOUT THE ARTIST-Ito Shinsui is one of the great names of the Shin Hanga art movement. His sensual, expressive depiction of bijin, beautiful young women, made him immortal. After World War II he had become one of the best known and respected personalities in the public life of the Japanese society. In 1952 his art work was declared an Intangible Living Treasure, one of the highest official awards an artist could receive. And in 1970 Ito Shinsui was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun.
